Henry Charlot, Director of Economic Development

Henry Charlot is the Economic Development Director for the DDD, where he has responsibility for the implementation of the Canal Street Development Strategy. He works jointly with the development community, financial institutions, and governmental entities to facilitate Downtown building projects, often by addressing gaps in project financing and feasibility. In turn, he assists the Downtown community with issues and problems that affect the business environment by developing solutions to any problem impeding business growth and development.

Mr. Charlot is an alumnus of Xavier University, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He also received a Masters of Business Administration from Tulane University with major course work done in the areas of accounting and finance. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed Real Estate Broker.

Mr. Charlot has worked as an auditor for international CPA firm Ernst & Young, a business consultant for the Xavier University Economic Development Center, Director of Federal Programs for Jefferson Parish, and served as Executive Director of the Regional Loan Corporation.

He has previously served on several boards and committees, including the Venture Network, the School Board’s Audit and Small Disadvantaged Business Advisory Committees, the Mayor’s Task Force on Small Business Finance and the Orleans Private Industry Council. He currently serves as Vice Chairman and Executive Committee Member for Business Resource Capital (formerly SBIDCO), and chairs the Finance and Capital Task Force for the Louisiana Economic Development Council/Vision 2020 Strategic Plan for Economic Development.

Henry is a native New Orleanian and lives in Mid City. He is the proud father of one son and enjoys reading, writing, biking, swimming, and community involvement.
