Development Resources When it comes to Economic Development, the Downtown Development District is your partner from the ground up! The services provided by the DDD staff are designed to assist investors in navigating through the City's guidelines and requirements. Some of the services include the following: Developer's Guide to City Hall The DDD has the answers to your regulatory questions in this comprehensive, navigable, .pdf document. The guide includes zoning classifications and uses of Downtown parcels, permitting information, historic district regulations and more. The DDD's Real Estate Property Locator makes it easy to find property for lease or purchase for your development project, office expansion, or new home. To launch the application, click the box on the top right of any page. The site utilizes ActiveX; Internet Explorer is required to view. A variety of incentives on the local, state and Federal level including matching grants, tax credits and development bonds are available to developers investing in Downtown. DDD Facade Improvement Grant / Facade Micro Grant The DDD's Facade Improvement Grant offers a matching grant of up to 50% ($20,000 maximum grant) of the cost of upgrading Downtown's building facades. In addition to the building facade grant, the DDD also offers a "Micro" grant to assist retailers in improving window displays. DDD Sidewalk Enhancement Grant The DDD has established a process and criteria for public support of development projects Downtown. The DDD is a key player in moving retail forward in the Central Business District (CBD). With particular emphasis on historic Canal Street, the DDD can assist you and your business with an in-depth understanding of the retail climate by providing expertise, guidance and a host of resources for establishing your retail business. The DDD can provide leading-edge demographics, mapping, and a breadth of services designed to give retailers a thorough understanding of the market, their competition, and the opportunities available in the CBD.
