|  | Tech-N.O.-Bowl Conference This Weekend Registration is on NOW for Tech-N.O. Bowl 2008. This weekend, July 25-26, 2008, the Downtown Development District, Arena Football League and Louisiana Technology Council will present the digital media and technology conference as part of the ArenaBowl weekend in Downtown New Orleans. Find out how the professional sports industry has adapted to changes in technology so it could employ new media platforms, mobile advertising, and social networks to its advantage, and how you can translate that into success for yourself.
The $50 registration fee covers the Friday night networking social at Downtown's Le Mieux Gallery, a behind-the-scenes tour of the New Orleans Arena, catered lunch, and presentations from panelists representing companies such as ESPN, Fox, Sling Media, and NewTek, to name a few. |  | Humanitarian Re-Housing Initiatives Clear Claiborne/Canal Encampment The Claiborne/Canal homeless encampment no longer exists, thanks to the efforts of Unity of Greater New Orleans, the Downtown Development District and many other agencies. The few people remaining at the site were placed in hotels and transitional housing on July 17 as part of Unity’s humanitarian re-housing initiative. The area is maintained by the Block-by-Block crews contracted by the DDD, which is exploring options for re-use of the public space under the Claiborne Avenue overpass. | Local Favorite Whitney White Linen Night is Downtown August 2
The New Orleans Arts District’s annual summer art-walk and outdoor celebration along Julia St. (300-600 blocks), throughout the New Orleans Arts District and at the Contemporary Arts Center (900 Camp St.) The night features art openings at nearly 20 galleries and museums with contemporary works by local, national and international artists, plus live music, curbside cash bars and restaurants and much more. | Participate in Mobility and Parking Study Online
Click here to participate in the study. Residents, business owners, locals, visitors, and workers are all asked to participate in an online survey to gather information on the mobility and parking needs in and around Downtown New Orleans. The Downtown Development District survey seeks input on parking, modes of transportation, walking and bicycling conditions, and related mobility issues. It is an important component of the DDD's Mobility and Parking Study that will supplement information gained through a series of focus groups held in June. The study area includes all of Downtown, including the Warehouse Arts District, Lafayette Square, the Central Business District, and the Medical District.
