DESCRIPTION
CoLAB Projects is a natural outgrowth from the international group exhibition program featuring emerging artists + designers that Roberts and Schlough began in January 2008 under the name BECA gallery. That group exhibition program is now pursuing an expansion under The BECA Foundation and you are encouraged to visit The BECA Foundation website at www.thebecafoundation.org for further information.
CoLAB Projects gallery space is located at 527 St. Joseph Street across from the Contemporary Arts Center in the heart of the New Orleans Warehouse Arts District. The growing CoLAB artist roster
includes a very diverse group of artists with each artist holding the common thread of producing strong, engaging, innovative and challenging works. Roberts and Schlough are deeply passionate about the work that these artists are creating and look forward to sharing that passion with art enthusiasts, curators and collectors from around the world.
Over the past 18 months, Roberts and Schlough have built a new gallery philosophy that removes obstacles to collecting art rather than creating them. It is their belief that the old world traditional
gallery model is outdated, if not stuffy, and doesn’t make much sense within progressive, contemporary life. They do not pursue mystery or favoritism in their dealings and work to keep their distance from old art world games. Instead, they present some of the most innovative artists and works on the planet and they publish the artwork prices openly. This practice allows each collector to pay the same great price and in return receive the same high value for every dollar spent. In addition, they openly offer customized interest free purchase plans in order to best assist each client and collector with their acquisitions.
5% of the purchase price is then donated to the non-profit organization of the collector’s choice. This donation is issued directly by CoLAB Projects and does not affect the artist’s receipts.
