• FBI crime statistics show a downward trend in crimes against people and property in Downtown.
• Only 2.5% of violent crimes and 6% of property crimes in New Orleans happen Downtown. * This is a small number considering all the people who live, work and play Downtown every day—approximately 62,000 employees, 5,100 residents, and 120,000 people total on a given week-day, that’s one third of the city’s total population.
• From 2009-2010, Downtown saw a 2.5% decrease in overall crime. DDD’s current 2011 month to month data shows a 14.4% decrease in overall crime Downtown compared to 2010.
